What epoxy countertops are
Epoxy countertops are created by pouring a thick, self-leveling resin over an existing countertop or a new substrate. Pigments, metallic powders and dyes are worked into the resin to create the look of marble, granite, quartz or abstract designs. The resin cures into a hard, glossy, seamless surface.
Why homeowners choose them
Replacing countertops can be expensive and disruptive. Epoxy allows us to transform existing laminate, tile or solid surface counters without tearing them out. It creates a custom look that matches your style, and there are no seams for crumbs and bacteria to hide in.
Design options
Popular choices include white marble with gray or gold veining, black granite looks, soft gray quartz styles and bold metallic swirls. We also create river designs on wood and abstract finishes for bars. We prepare samples so you can see the colors with your cabinets and lighting.
Surfaces we can cover
Epoxy can go over laminate, tile (after filling grout lines), solid surface and some stone. We inspect the existing countertop to make sure it is stable. Loose tiles or damaged laminate need to be repaired first.
Preparation
We protect cabinets, floors and walls, remove sinks or faucets when needed and sand and prime the surface. Tile grout lines are filled and leveled. Edges are prepared so the resin flows smoothly over them.
The pour
We mix and pour the base color, then add veining and accents by hand. The resin flows over edges and is smoothed. After curing, we may apply a clear coat to add depth and durability.
Bathrooms and bars
Epoxy works well in bathroom vanities, home bars, laundry rooms and office reception desks. Bars often feature metallic or bold designs, while bathrooms tend toward marble looks.
Heat and scratches
Epoxy is durable but not heatproof. Use trivets under hot pans and cutting boards for knives. Light scratches can be buffed out, and deeper damage can be sanded and recoated.
Sunlight
Some epoxies can yellow in direct sunlight. For counters near large windows, we use UV-resistant formulas and discuss placement.
Timeline
Most kitchens take two to three days, including preparation, pours and curing. You will need to keep the counters clear during that time.
Pricing
Price depends on square footage, edge details, design complexity and repairs to the existing counter. We provide a detailed quote.

Outdoor kitchens and laundry rooms
We generally do not recommend epoxy for counters exposed to direct sun outdoors, because ultraviolet light and heat can yellow and soften the resin. For covered outdoor kitchens, we discuss UV-resistant formulas and realistic expectations. Laundry and craft rooms, on the other hand, are excellent places for epoxy: the seamless surface handles detergents, paint and glue and wipes clean easily. Many customers start with a smaller space like a laundry counter or a bathroom vanity to see how they like the finish before doing the kitchen.
Built-in desks and islands
Home offices and kitchen islands with large spans are a great canvas for bold designs. We can pour over plywood substrates with custom edges.
